Anyone who takes a casual stroll through Sandton Central, could easily mistake their position for any other financial capital city in the world. Sandton CBD, the hub of trade in South Africa is growing and improving every day, despite the dismal economic growth rates and the technical recession last year.

Many of the major international law firms, banks and financial institutions have been seen to be trying to outdo each other, by having the best building in the City. These trends are seen as a positive for the country's economy, as major multi-national companies are still willing to invest.

A prime example of this is Discovery World Headquarters, situated at 1 Discovery Place. 1DP is one of the largest buildings in Sandton, and the construction of the R3bn building began in 2014.

Concerns regarding congestion within the business node are being addressed. The Gautrain Station is used by thousands of both business and tourist commuters, on a daily basis. Major stops the train system links Sandton to include; Rosebank and OR Tambo International Airport. Other additional upgrades to the area include the extension of the BRT system, pedestrian and cyclist lanes.

Corporates and developers are also including cyclist and pedestrian facilities within their buildings to promote healthier lifestyles for employees as well as attempt to reduce traffic congestion on the roads.
