Pomona is fast becoming Gautengs Premiere Industrial Warehousing node with a dramatic incline in Premium Development since around 2010. The node started its fast track when JT Ross was one of the first to notice its value and began acquiring agricultural land just north of Pomona Proper along the R21. They rezoned large bulk and started a development called Plumbago Business Park, in which Anvil Property Smith has been actively involved in since then. The park has significant success and in turn bolstered the nodes value as a whole.
This led to a migration of end users from the southern part of the OR Tambo to Pomona Proper(Old Side) as well as the new premium developments. Naturally, the newer sections that had been converted from agricultural to Industrial had roads built as part of the SDP's that were put in place, however this didnt allow for the mass rise in heavy load and even normal passenger traffic within pomona proper. Roads such as Constantia, Maple and Pomona Road were not equipped for this load of vehicle traffic causing concern over congestion within the Pomona node.
However, on the 21st February 2019, Budget was eventually approved for the road upgrades that were in the pipeline plans for many years and a team was deployed to begin with the eastern side of Constantia Avenue. This will provide much relief and instil confidence in end user owners and tenants within Pomona and will just boost the ever increasing demand for Industrial Facilities within the node.
